YOUR NEXT WORLD OF WARCRAFT ADVENTURE
Find an alt worth
coming back to.
A practical guide to choosing your WoW Forever alt—starting with the way you want to play.
An alt can give you a different view of World of Warcraft: Forever. Before choosing another race or chasing a class ranking, decide what you want your next character to add: a new combat rhythm, a different role with friends, or a fresh journey through Azeroth.
This is our playstyle guide, not a damage ranking. A class that feels right during ordinary questing is often a better starting point than one chosen for a single endgame moment.
Change one thing you care about.
Write down one thing you enjoy about your main and one thing you want to experience differently. Keep the first; use the second to narrow your alt.
Change your distance
Enjoy melee but want space to plan? Explore Mage, Hunter, or Warlock. Prefer being close to the action? Compare Warrior, Rogue, and the martial side of Paladin.
Change your responsibility
If you usually focus on your own target, try a class with healing or protection in its identity. If you already organize every group, consider a character whose appeal is independence or precise execution.
Change your routine
Want familiar fundamentals in another setting? A different race may be enough. Want a different set of decisions each fight? Start with the class, then choose a compatible race.
Which WoW Forever class fits your next adventure?
Use these as starting points for comparison. They describe class fantasy and preferences, not fixed personalities or promises about leveling speed.
Warrior
You want weapon practice, close-range pressure, and an active frontline.
Ask yourselfDo I enjoy meeting danger up close, beyond simply wanting to be useful?
Paladin
You want martial combat with the Light, protection, and support.
Ask yourselfDoes keeping others safe appeal more than proving my own endurance?
Hunter
You want ranged combat, awareness of the world, and an animal companion.
Ask yourselfWill I enjoy managing a companion as well as my own position?
Rogue
You want stealth, carefully chosen openings, and control over how a fight begins.
Ask yourselfDo I enjoy setup and timing as much as the moment of attack?
Priest
You want a spellcaster whose identity includes healing, protection, and the mind.
Ask yourselfAm I drawn to supporting others, Shadow magic, or both?
Shaman
You want elemental magic, totems, and ways to strengthen a group.
Ask yourselfDoes weaving utility into combat sound satisfying?
Mage
You want arcane, fire, or frost magic, with ranged positioning and control.
Ask yourselfWould I enjoy solving a fight with timing and space?
Warlock
You want demons, curses, and pressure that develops over a fight.
Ask yourselfDo I enjoy managing several effects and a companion?
Druid
You want nature magic, different forms, and the possibility of changing roles.
Ask yourselfWill I enjoy learning different tools instead of staying in one familiar pattern?
Plan a leveling journey you will actually enjoy.
- Choose a pace. Decide whether this alt is for relaxed exploration, regular sessions with friends, or a more directed route. Your route should serve that goal.
- Check the pairing. Forever adds race and class combinations beyond original WoW. Confirm your choice in Blizzard’s class and race overview before planning around it.
- Try the routine. Give the character a few ordinary sessions. Pay attention to positioning, downtime, managing companions, and the decisions you repeat. Enjoying the fantasy and enjoying the routine are different questions.
- Decide how much guidance you want. Some players like discovering routes themselves; others prefer a guide to organize travel and quest order. Check a guide’s current coverage for your faction and level range before buying.

A few useful questions before you reroll.
Do I need an alt for the Legacy System?
No. Blizzard says the Legacy System encourages exploring different characters and tradeskills, but its character advantages can be unlocked on a single character. Choose an alt because you want the journey, rather than feeling obliged to make one.
Should I pick the most popular class?
Popularity tells you what other players chose. It cannot tell you which routine you will enjoy. Use community results as a conversation starter, then compare your own affinities and interests.
Can my alt differ from my quiz’s top result?
Of course. Start with your alternative class matches if you want a new experience. The quiz is a prompt for exploring possibilities, not a rule about what you are allowed to play.
Does a leveling guide choose my class for me?
Choose the character first, then decide whether a guide suits your route and pace. The quiz’s recommendations are independent of affiliate clicks or purchases.
